The Spa at Estancia: Southern California’s First Wellness for Cancer-Certified Spa

According to the American Cancer Society, in 2016, there will be an estimated 1,685,210 new cancer cases diagnosed. Where do those impacted by cancer go for relaxation and pampering from spa therapists specially trained in this area?

The Spa at Estancia already stands out as one of San Diego’s top resort spas—consistently voted “Best La Jolla Day Spa.” Now, it also stands out as Southern California’s first Wellness for Cancer-certified spa.

All therapists at the 7000-square-foot sanctuary are trained to provide massage and skincare (facial and body) to guests diagnosed with, being treated for and recovering from cancer.spafinder-cancer-aware

“The comprehensive training included learning from leading doctors about the different types of cancer and common side effects, how to approach clients emotionally and how to physically modify treatments,” explains Dana Flower, marketing manager for Estancia La Jolla Hotel & Spa. “The benefits of modifying treatments can range from emotional, such as garnering confidence in a recovering cancer survivor, to the tangible easing of pain experienced by those still undergoing treatment.”
