1. La Jolla Cove

Easily one of the best ways to spend a day in Southern California, La Jolla Cove offers a variety of fun activities. La Jolla Cove beach is a small beach tucked between sandstone cliffs. While not very large, this popular spot is the gateway to San Diego La Jolla Underwater Park Ecological Reserve, a protected marine reserve with excellent visibility and plenty of sea life for snorkelers, scuba divers, and swimmers to explore. 2. Torrey Pines Hike

Often referred to as one of La Jolla’s best hikes, the Torrey Pines Hike is a relatively easy trek with postcard-worthy coastline views. It’s also one of the only places you can see the Torrey Pine tree, the rarest native pine in the U.S. Head to Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve early, it gets crowded, and enjoy the wildflowers, ferns, cacti, and unforgettable views.

3. Kayak In the Caves

First discovered in 1902, the approximately 75-million-year-old La Jolla caves are one of San Diego’s most fascinating attractions. You can access Sunny Jim Cave by foot, but the only way to reach the other six is by water. Luckily, there are plenty of guided kayak tours to choose from. Paddle out to the striking sandstone caves that were once used by pirates, but are now more likely to host seals and sea lions. Clam Cave, the largest of the seven, is the easiest to access, but on days when the tide is low you can explore some of the smaller caves.
